Poetry and Space, Sketching Piazzolla

In this work, my mimetic extensions are staged between the musical instrument and the human body, between the bandoneon and the solo dancer. In a way that seeks to echo Piazzolla’s deconstruction of the bandoneon through his contemporary reinventions of tango, this choreographic sketch reconfigures traditional ballet gestures through the foregrounding of the disjointed body. It engages an interplay between corporeal extension and contraction.
